Father Paul Burke, J.C.L. is the Chair of the Faculty of Theology at Holy Spirit College and chaplain for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer Home in Atlanta. In 2009, he was awarded a Juris Canonici Licentia (J.C.L.) degree from The Catholic University of America. His Canon Law studies, in particular, enable Father Paul to bring a wealth of knowledge about Catholic education to Holy Spirit Prep. His JCL thesis was focused on teachers and curriculum in Catholic schools, while the doctoral dissertation on which he is currently working is focused on the Catholic school as a community of faith. Father Paul brings many gifts to our school community. Through his connection as chaplain of the Cancer Home, Holy Spirit Prep students have opportunities of providing provide support through student service cohorts. In addition, over the past several years he has also been instrumental in furthering Catholic-Greek Orthodox relations as one of the coordinators of a series of special Ecumenical Gatherings for the Archdiocese. Father Paul was ordained in 1996 and has served the Archdiocese of Atlanta through several parochial vicar and chaplain assignments, including assignments at Our Lady of Mercy High School and Kennesaw State University. Born in Galway, Ireland, Father Paul earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Geography and Sociology. He then attended Mt. St. Mary's Seminary, earning a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Moral Theology. He also attended the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family and Kennesaw University. His special areas of interest include Catholic Education, the Code of Cannon Law, Bioethics, Catholic-Orthodox Relations, and the philosophical and theological thought of John Paul II.
